Cons and Pros off HSR
● Our Nation does need a major discussion about our country’s future transportation need.
● We must discuss the energy consumption.
● We must discuss the emissions between the various transit modes.
● We must discuss the National security, energy available in case of a market crisis.
● We must discuss the fluid throughput of the traveling people and goods.
● We must discuss the travel time consumption between the different modes.
● We must discuss the economics of the proposed HSR system.
● We must discuss the National unity.
National Discussion:
Cons – The public may not be willing to listen to leadership promoting High-Speed-Rail (HSR). They may not be able to understand the National importance of such a massive recommendation. They may perceive that such an undertaking is out of reach, too expensive, or too utopia to be accomplished. This will require sound and unified leadership; remember we call us to be the USA. Also let us do master planning once again for our Nation; this may be a hard one to do and usher this through congress. We must rise to solutions and not so much to destructive negativity.                  Pros - The population will hear the proposal on National level, just as they did when President Eisenhower proclaimed to build the interstate highway corridors. Our people will once more find productive work and have an opportunity to contribute toward the country. This work will provide the population with sense of purpose and will have a healing effect even down to the families.   
Energy Consumption:
Cons - We cannot any longer consume petro energy as we have in the past. Remember this energy source is finite. We cannot afford the enormous amount of capital drain to questionable countries. We must include the healthcare cost for our population due to polluting emission.
Pro - We must re-invest this money into upgraded National infrastructure for the 21st century. We must once again, as a Nation, think like Ike did, he promoted the interstate highway system and we built that system. The Nation heard the proposal and went forward with the building thereof.
Transit Modes:
Cons - Cars produce more emission per passenger and are much less fuel efficient. Over population of cars on the road lead to increased gridlock and consume evermore commute time. Car transportation does require a large amount of surface area to transport people.
Passenger Trains, Light-rail, they usually cannot bring the traveler to the doorstep. They require waiting time for the connections. They may provide limited or erratic service depending on the final planning.
Pros – Passenger Trains, Light-rail can transport many more people in a much smaller per square foot area. They can move at good speed while clogged highways cannot. They are safe, comfortable and relaxing to ride on. They are very fuel efficient and have minimal polluting emission. They can use domestic electrical power and recover some electrical energy during the braking via re-generative braking.

National Security:
Cons – The overly dependency upon foreign oil and gas could be a major supply problem due to unforeseen political problems overseas. This dependency does not encourage us to build 21st century transit modes. This dependency will hold us back from domestic innovations and therefore does not help us to solve the problems. National comprehensive planning is outmoded because of oil dependency. Government will not find the link for political cooperation and rise to the occasion till it may be to late.
Pros – Here we can address this situation with forward thinking, planning for the future and provide solutions. Here we can provide work for our people, this work will reward us with the work performed. We will consume less energy, we will produce less pollution, and we can transport people and freight at minimal cost and get there in good time.
Fluid Throughput:
Cons – Due to the population increase we must haul evermore people and goods day in and day out. This transporting does cost us huge amounts of money. This transporting is in high demand of landmass. The clogged highways and rail lines hinder the fluid throughput off vehicles. This hindrance is very expensive in terms of economics. This hindrance is time consuming and increases the pollutants.
Pro – This problem does give us an opportunity to bring planning and solutions in to the field. We can solve the current state of throughput with new HSR routes and eliminate the gridlocks. We will be able to employ our people again for productive work. People can once again earn a living wage.  
Travel Time:
Cons – Every transit mode has its advantages and disadvantage. Air travel is good for longer distances, but for shorter routes it may be in disadvantage due to the long wait during check in. Car travel in congested corridors is very time and energy consuming. Car travel plus commute may be a tossup depending on the setup of the highways or the rail lines.
Pros – Good planning will consider much off the above said conditions. Good urban planning will direct traffic flows in to the proper “collection – distribution centers. Such setups will save us a lot of travel time. HSR can link Cities in effective ways and with minimal time consumption. Short check in time and short exit time from the multi door trains is very helpful.
Economics:
Cons – This prospectus will require a lot of capital. We must increase the infrastructure spending to up to 8% of the GNP. People may not be willing to contribute tax dollars toward such an endeavor.
Pros – The full execution of this proposal will save us a lot of money over the long haul. The reduction of oil and gas imports will preserve capital to be used to better our own Nation. Our own people will once more earn good money and such will further enhance the economy.  
National Unity:
Cons – Such will deprive the ruling party from the execution off their will and viewpoints. Some extremism cannot flourish under such a setting. Under a sole majority governing we lose the democratic prevalence. Arguments prevail and solutions are none. The Nation is weak and may fall apart.
Pros - This, and if we seek unity with consideration toward on and another will heal our Nation, this will re-empower the public to be part of the society. The public can once more have the say, conduct open and honest discussions and bring results for our country. This will lessen the accusation conduct and direct the situation in to solving problems.
We will once more get things accomplished, we will flourish again!
